Alexa and Voice Calls

Alexa’s voice and video call option, called Alexa Communicate, has a few pieces it’s important to know about:

Set Alexa to Block All Contacts From Using Drop-In

If you don’t want Drop-In enabled at all, you can shut it off with just a few taps. This menu will also allow you enable sending text messages and enable or disable Caller ID for people who call you.

Open the Alexa app, then tap Contacts. Tap your name at the top. Under the menu, tap the Allow Drop-In toggle switch to turn it off. That’s it!

How to Block Only Specific Contacts on Alexa

In other cases you may want to stop hearing from the person entirely. This is done through the Contacts menu. This only applies to people who have the Alexa app, an Alexa-enabled device, and Alexa Communicate enabled, so while you may see your contacts on the contacts page, you won’t see them under the Block Contacts menu.

Open the Alexa app’s menu and tap Contacts. Tap the three dots icon in the top right-hand corner, then tap Block Contacts. This will show you contacts you can keep from reaching out to you. Tap Block and the person will be blocked. If you change your mind, you can simply return to the same menu. Your contact will still be there, just tap Unblock.
