Bridges come in eight types, with different prices after the ability to build multiple bridges is unlocked. Until then, the only bridge available is the log bridge, which can be obtained on Day 4 the earliest.

The First Bridge

After Nook’s Cranny has been built on a player’s island, talking to Tom Nook will reveal to players that they will be getting three new neighbors. Tom Nook will then task players with crafting a Log Bridge which requires 4 log stakes, 4 clay, and 4 stones.

Players at this point should have the recipe for log stakes, which require 3 pieces of wood each. Clay can be gathered by harvesting from large rocks with stones being able to be obtained with the same method. After making the bridge construction kit, players can place the bridge wherever they like on the rivers with some limitations. The bridge will be built the next day.

Building More Bridges

After Residential Services is upgraded and players have access to Isabelle, the ability to work with the island’s infrastructure is unlocked for the player. However, unlike the previous bridge, these bridges will cost players a lot of bells, while also not needing crafting materials. However, like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, funding for these bridges is received through donations.

By talking to Tom Nook in Residential Services, players can select the “Let’s talk infrastructure” option to build a bridge. From there, players can choose which bridge they want to build and where they want to place it. Like the first bridge, they can only be placed where there’s an even amount of land on each side of the river. After setting everything up, Lloyd the donation gyroid will be next to the construction kit so that players can donate to the bridge’s fund. After everything is funded, players will need to wait a day for the bridge to be completed.
